The game was tied 42 – 42 and we had the ball with 5 minutes left. As I dribbled up the court I called for a screen and as I rolled off the screen I noticed my teammate wide open for a 3 on the opposite corner. I chucked the ball as hard as I could to my teammate as soon as he caught it, he through up the shot SWISH! We were now up by 3 with 3 minutes left to go. We sprinted back on defense and got into a 2–3 zone so that they couldn’t get a layup, the other team was pretty good so we couldn’t let them get into the paint or else they would get an easy bucket. I noticed an open player on the other side of the court! I sprinted as fast as I could but… swish! The other team had tied the game with 3 seconds to go. I got the ball loaded my arms back and BOOM, I threw the ball as hard and far as I could the ball was clanking side to side against the rim and the backboard the buzzer sounded the ball went in the basket, we had won.
Rad Reading- March
This month I read Out Of My Heart by Sharon M. Draper. The book is about a 13 year old girl named Melody Brooks and she has cerebral palsy, but that doesn’t stop her from doing stuff that she enjoys like reading or making jokes with her little sister Penny. However, Melody wants to feel “normal” so she asks her parents if she can go to summer camp! They agree but are hesitant because they are worried she will get hurt. Her parents still end up letting her go and Melody learns to make friends and enjoys it. I can’t give away the whole story though otherwise you wouldn’t want to read the book.
I loved this book because it had lots of funny moments like when Penny thought she could fit in a jar for catching fireflies. Also because it had lots of heartfelt moments and was a happy story. My favorite character was Penny because she was funny, a quote to illustrate this is, “…come help, Mrs. V!” Penny pleaded. “They Won’t listen to me!” This was funny to me because Penny was getting frustrated because the fireflies weren’t flying in the jar and that made me laugh since it seemed like the firefly’s were just trying to live while Penny was chasing them with a jar.
My favorite quote from this book was, “ The firefly hovered over the back of my hand, then landed slowly, effortlessly. I could hardly feel its delicate touch. Two wire- thin antennae, flickering, protruded from its tiny round head painted with a small red dot. I tried not to tremble. My hands often move on their own, whether I want them to or not, so I focused intensely, willing myself to remain still.” I liked this quote because it painted a clear picture in my head of a firefly’s landing on Melody’s hand, it also reminds me of when I went camping with my dad and a firefly landed on me.
Fancy Dinner
There are so many people I would want to invite to dinner, but these are my top three: Kobe Bryant, Jesus and Bruce Lee are the three people I would love to invite to dinner. I would pick Kobe Bryant because I want to talk to him about how I can improve on my basketball skills and because he is very kind and has the mamba mentality. Secondly, I want to invite Jesus beacuse I want to learn about what it’s like in heaven and he could lead the prayer before we eat dinner, maybe he can teach me how to walk on water! Finally, I would pick Bruce Lee because he can teach me kung-fu and he could defend us if anything bad happens. These are the the three people I would love to have dinner with.
My Dream Job
My dream job is to be a marine biologist. One reason, is because I love sea animals and I want to learn about them and study their anatomy. This job would be a perfect fit for me since I get to learn all about ocean animals like sharks, octopuses and many more sea animals. My second reason, is because I have always wanted to learn how animals communicate with each other and how they learn from others. This is interesting to me because animals are very fascinating creatures and to learn the differences between them we must study them like a marine biologist! My final reason I want to be a marine biologist is because I love ocean animals and I want to learn all about them because they show how we humans can change as life goes on.
Invisible
A magical wizard turned me invisible for twenty four hours! The first thing I would do is play Fortnite and Call Of Duty. Next, I would go to Del Taco and take some free tacos for lunch, after that I would scare my friends so that I could get a laugh and they would be super scared. Finally I would visit the wizard and steal the magical potion to turn me back to normal and I would be pretty tired so I end my day by going to bed knowing I’ll be back to normal.
Rad Reading- February
This month I read The Wild Robot by Peter Brown. The Story starts with a big ship carrying robots crashes in a wild storm, as the robots topple out of the ship they all are destroyed expect for one and her name is Roz. When she wakes up, she realizes she is on an island so Roz learns how to speak the animal language and befriends a fox as the two venture together they come across a little chick egg and when it cracks Roz is faced with the challenge of teaching it to eat, swim and fly by fall or else it will die. Roz names the bird Bright Bill. As the chick grows older it realizes that Roz isn’t a very normal mother so the bird ventures off by itself to learn alone as he does so he doesn’t get very far and struggles so he takes Roze’s help and learns the final step to flying. When his migration begins Roz is alone and wonders if BrightBill will ever come back.
I loved this book because it contained a lot of heart felt moments and proved that you can take help no matter who it is and to not give up on your dreams. My favorite character in the book was Roz beacuse this quote, “we must become more than we were programmed to be.” Meant something to me, it meant that you should never stop doing what you love and do the hardest you can. My favorite quote was, “I’ll tell you what: If I could do it all over again, I’d spend more time helping others. All I’ve ever done is dig tunnels Some of them were real beauties too, but they’re all hidden underground, where they’re no good to anyone but me.” This was my favorite quote because it showed that people are always trying to help and everyone is different.
My Abandoned Island
It’s another day in paradise on my abandoned island. How did I ended up on this here you may ask? Well I was on a plane trip to Hawaii flying right over the Pacific Ocean when my plane crashed on an abandoned island. Unfortunately, I was the only one to survive. When I made it off the plane wreckage I was on a beautiful Island, decorated with many vibrant colors and animals. There are two little forests that I soon found as I explored the island, one with a little pond full of fish, ducks and more colorful sea creatures. The other was a tropical forest and consisted of many bugs, frogs and monkeys that squeaked and squealed as they scurried past my feet. I live right next to the forest with the pond, since I have water and fish. It’s a good spot because it’s also right next to the ocean and the sunset is beautiful from where I live. My daily routine on the island starts with breakfast. I always go out into the forest where there is lots of mud. More mud means pigs! So I kill a pig and slice it up for some bacon, then I find the ducks nests and grab two eggs for a yummy breakfast. Next, I do my chores such as catching some fish for dinner and drying some of the clothes that I managed to find from the plane wreck. As soon as that’s done I go for my afternoon swim in the ocean. It is pretty fun once you start getting the hang of riding waves, it makes swimming more enjoyable! Finally, to prepare dinner I roast the fish over a fire and add some of the eggs from breakfast to feast on. The sun then gets ready to sleep and the bright moon reflects on the navy blue ocean. So my eyes get drowsy and I walk to my warm, cozy shelter and dose off to sleep.
Rad Reading- January
This month I read Out Of My Mind by Sharon M Draper. The book starts out with a girl named Melody who suffers from cerebral palsy. She is faced with many challenges such as two very mean bullys, Claire and Molly, and not being able to talk. Although all of this happens to Melody, she fights back! First, she sees a device in a magazine that can help her talk, so she asks her parents if she can get one and they say yes! Melody now had a personal device that helped her speak. In this story Melody was a fighter even when she was frustrated.
I liked this book because it illustrated how you can fight back no matter the condition you are in.
My favorite character in the story was Melody because even when she felt very sad or felt like she couldn’t do anything she always bounced back, a quote to illustrate this is, “I guess I figured out I was different a little at a time. Since I never had trouble thinking or remembering, it actually sort of surprised me that I couldn’t do stuff.” I chose this quote because It proves Melody doesn’t care that she has a disability she just acts like a normal human being.
My favorite quote from the book is, “Words have always swirled around me like snowflakes-each one delicate and different, each one melting untouched in my hands.” This was my favorite quote because It shows how much words affect a person and how people need to express themselves and words are the best way of doing so.
Favorite Fast Food
My favorite fast food place is Del Taco. One reason, is because I love their chicken soft tacos. The chicken is perfectly heated and marinated and the sauce is savory for my taste buds. Another reason I like Del Taco is because of the tortilla, the tortilla is so yummy and soft it adds the perfect touch with the chicken and sauce. The tortilla is always nice and warm in my mouth. The final reason, is because their fries are amazing! The fries are salted and warmed to the perfect crispy soft combo. Del Taco fries are probably the best I’ve ever had and probably will be for a long time. That’s why I like Del Taco the best, but what’s your favorite fast food place?
Rad Reading – December
This month I read Diary Of A Wimpy Kid The Deep End by Jeff Kinney. The book starts out in the Heffleys grandma’s old crappy basement. The Heffleys have to stay there because their house got demolished due to the family going bankrupt and having nowhere to go, so they ended up in their grandmas basement. The family really wanted to go on a vacation to get some air. Unfortunately they didn’t have any money, so they find an old van and start their journey. They ride around place to place having fun. Like when they find a lake but find out there are piranhas! Or when they go to camp out and accidentally camp in someone’s farm, They even get stranded on a tube ride in the middle of a river! That’s when the Heffleys wonder if they should go back to the old, gross basement or if they’re already too deep.
I liked this book because it reminds me of when my vacations go bad and I thought it was a pretty funny book. My favorite character in this book was Greg. A quote to illustrate this is when Greg says, “I think mom feels bad we can’t afford to do anything special this summer” This quote proves that Greg is a sympathetic person and shows that he loves his mom. My favorite quote in the book was at the beginning of the book when Greg told Rowley, “I bet your trip would be more fun if a friend came along … yep wonder who could come.” This was my favorite because it shows how Greg wants to go on a better vacation and would do anything to get some space from his family once in a while. Even though that doesn’t happen he still has lots of fun with his family in the end.
